The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has assured the public that he will soon announce the members of the Benue State executive council. He made this promise during his speech at the 2023 National Convention/Mega Reunion of St. James Minor Seminary Old Boys’ Association (SAJSOBA) held at the school premises along Yandev-Makurdi road on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Governor Alia acknowledged the high expectations from the people of Benue since he took office, considering the state’s challenging economic and social conditions. He expressed confidence that his administration would work diligently to restore the state’s former glory.
During his address, the Governor highlighted that within just two months, his administration had already ensured the payment of two months’ salaries, with July’s salaries set to be paid promptly.
With pride, Governor Alia mentioned his roots in St. James Minor Seminary and credited the church for instilling in him and others the values of discipline, morality, and teachings that have stayed with them throughout their lives.
Although he actively participates in partisan politics, the Governor emphasized that he remains devoted to his priestly calling and continually prays for guidance in his leadership role. He extended an invitation to the church as a corporate body to contribute to the betterment of the state.
During the event, the National President of SAJSOBA, Godwin Kave, expressed gratitude to the Governor and other alumni for their presence at the occasion. He rejoiced in the fact that St. James Minor Seminary, Yandev, has produced two governors for the state, Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu and now Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Kave called on both old and new students to support their alma mater in any way possible to sustain its growth and development.
