Obande Obeya, Baba Odangla, 8 others installed as Benue First Class Chiesf (SEE FULL LIST)

The Benue State government on Sunday 14th May, 2018 coronate and gave staff of office to 10 new First Class Chiefs while installing them at the famous IBB square in Makurdi, the state capital.

Gov. Samuel Ortom during the ceremony urged the newly installed monarchs to respect and comply with the laws of the land and conduct themselves at all times in a manner that can promote public confidence, integrity and impartiality of the traditional institution.


“Traditional Rulers have a role to play in taking government policies and programmes to the doorsteps of their subjects. They are the ones who know their subjects very well and should promote and encourage communal development in their domains.

“As paramount rulers of your various domains, you are expected to respect and comply with the laws of the land and conduct yourselves at all times in a manner that can promote public confidence and the integrity and impartiality of the traditional institution,” Ortom said.

Gov. Ortom went further saying that the government the state expects that the traditional rulers would be alive in playing their much needed role in the promotion of peace, unity and harmony in their various jurisdictions.

The Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse who is the Chairman of Benue State Traditional Council, commended the state government for giving attention to the traditional institution while urging the people of the state who are yet to get their PVC to go and register to obtain their voters cards to be eligible to vote for candidates of their choice in 2019.

Ambrose Pine Iyortyer (Tor Kwande),
Chiefs Clement Kparevfa Uganden (Tor Jechira),
Emmanuel Okochi (Och’Otukpo/Ohimini),
Francis Obande Obeya (Och’Enone),
Baba Odangla (Och’Apa/Agatu)
and Oga Ero (Adirahu Ny’Igede).
