Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has disclosed that the state government has secured a loan of N3 billion for small, medium and micro scale enterprises with interest of only five percent for those eligible.
The governor who disclosed this at the burial of judge Kehem Dajoh, uncle to the senator representing Benue North-west senatorial zone, Senator George AKume, in mbakor Tarka local government of Benue State also called on the citizens to avail themselves with the opportunity in order to stem over dependence on the government.
Ortom said, the way out of the present economic recession was agriculture as oil which used to generate a lot of revenue can no longer be relied upon, adding that God will see Benue through the problem of salaries even as he noted that about 34 states cannot pay salaries as and when due.
When asked to comment on his 2019 ambition, the governor said God would put those he wants in the various positions and emphasized that it was God who led him to his present place.
Commenting on the health of the President, the governor appealed to all citizens to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, saying “The president is not dead, and he will not die in Jesus name,” pointing out that the president is undergoing medical check up and would return to Nigeria at the end of the exercise.
