The Benue State Executive Council (SEC) has approved N30.2 billion for the construction of five rural roads across the state.
Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed this after the SEC meeting held on Tuesday at the Government House in Makurdi.
Kula explained that the amount represents the state’s 60 percent counterpart funding for the rural roads, which span the three senatorial zones.
The local governments in the project areas will contribute the remaining 40 percent.
The approved roads for construction include the Awajir-Oju, Adikpo-Kotiyo-Vandeikya, Ushongo-Har, Igwumale-Agila, and Obagaji-Okokolo-Agagbe roads.
Additionally, Kula revealed that the SEC resolved to domesticate the Disability Act in the state, aiming to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and reduce the challenges they face in daily life.
The Council also approved a donation of N10 million to the Nigerian Legion for the upcoming Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
