The Honourable Commissioner of Education Prof.Dennis A. Ityavyar has reiterated the commitment of Governor Samuel Ortom led administration to sustain partnership with private schools to uplift the standard of education in the state.
He made this disclosure yesterday when he received a delegation of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in his Office in Makurdi.
The Honourable Commissioner caution those establishing primary and secondary schools not to consider education as a money making venture as the government is bent on sanitising the sector while noting that examination malpractice must be halted henceforth to enhance the quality of education given to the Benue child.
He mentioned that the Government is bent on closing all the illegal schools that are dragging the name of the state into disrepute while urging them to fence their schools which will serve as a means of addressing security challenges.
Earlier speaking, the National President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Chief. (Dr.) Yomi Otubela commended the Governor for his efforts in uplifting the quality of education in the state, while noting that education which is the live wire of a nation has been given a boost and the attention it rightly deserves by Governor Ortom led administration.
He appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for the harmonious working relationship existing between NAPPS and the ministry.
He further stated that under his watch, NAPPS has been given the desired recognition they have always craved for.
Dr. Otubela restated that NAPPS is in total support of all the measures put place by His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom towards improving the quality of education in the state even as he thanked the commissioner for always letting his door open for then to interface on issues pertaining to the development of Education in the state.
