Benue State Government through Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Makurdi has begun the inspection of sites on higher grounds in order to evacuate victims of flood disaster in Makurdi, the state capital.

The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Dr. Emmanuel Shior yesterday, 21st September, 2022 went out with his team to inspect the havoc flood has unleashed on some residents in Makurdi town and its environs.

Hundreds of households have been rendered homeless in the state capital. This is attributed to heavy rain fall in the past days as well as the release of water from Lagdo dam in Cameroon resulting to the rising river water level.

In order to salvage the situation, the Benue State Government is making arrangements to move the victims of the flood disaster to safer places to ameliorate their sufferings.
