Benue State Government is to host polo tournament as part of the Governor Samuel Ortom-led administration’s support for sports development.
Governor Ortom stated this today when he received seven trophies won by the Makurdi Polo Club in the state during the just concluded Polo Tournament in Kaduna.
He commended the club for introducing Polo game in the state, saying it would add value to sports development.
The Governor pledged the support of his administration to sporting activities which he noted contributes to economic growth.
Assistant Captain of the Makurdi Polo Club, Mr. Fanen Dzegeor expressed appreciation to the Governor for the support which ensured successful participation of the team in the tournament.
He also acknowledged the support of the Sports Commissioner, Mrs. Ladi Ajene and appealed for government support for the club to participate in the January 2021 tournament.
Captain of the Club, Mr. Williams Suswam presented the Golden State Shirt to the Governor and other trophies won by the team during the tournament.
