Benue: Groom kidnapped days to wedding, abductors demand N3m ransom
A Benue State family has been thrown into fear and anguish following the abduction of their relative, Tartenger Terdue James, just days before his planned wedding.
James was reportedly kidnapped last Tuesday evening while travelling to Cross River State to purchase palm oil for his traditional marriage, scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025. What should have been a period of celebration has instead turned into days of anxiety and sorrow for his loved ones.
According to family sources, the abductors have demanded a ransom of N3 million and issued chilling threats, warning that his body would be dumped by the roadside if the money is not paid.
The ordeal has taken a severe emotional toll on the family. Relatives say the bride-to-be has been overwhelmed by grief, breaking down in tears daily as uncertainty over her fiancé’s fate deepens.
Describing the incident as devastating, the family has appealed to the public and well-meaning Nigerians for urgent assistance, while continuing to pray for James’ safe release from captivity.
