Benue guber 2019: APC considers Dickson Akoh, Sam Odeh, Dan Onjeh as Jime’s deputy
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is Benue State is currently in search of a running mate for Barr Emmanuel Jime.
Jime on Monday picked the party’s sole ticket to face Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, APC, in 2019 guber election in Benue State.
However, two persons are currently topping the list of Jime’s running-mate.
Among those, IDOMA VOICE gathered penned down for the Deputy Governorship’s seat were: Dr. Dickson Akoh, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria and Comrade Dan Onjeh, BoT Chairman, Project Development Institute, PRODA.
The party, sources said is also considering Chief Nelson Alapa, former Minority Whip for the House of Reps for the position.
Sources within the camp of the APC hinted this reporter that APC was banking on Akoh’s financial strength and his popularity back home.
Onjeh was also considered for the position because of strong political structure back home and his acceptance by the youths in the zone.
An insider said the party leaders want Onjeh to step down his senatorial ambition for Steve Lawani.
Alapa was also considered for the position because of his overwhelming popularity in Benue South and his undisputed leadership quality.
Also, former minister of Niger Delta, Hon Sam Odeh is said to be the favourite of some APC leaders.
“Don’t worry, in few days, you will know Jime’s retuning mate. But I can assure you that it is going to be either Onjeh, Akoh or Alapa,” the source added.
