2023 governorship aspirant in Benue State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Terver Akase has appealed to aspirants who feel aggrieved over the recent zoning arrangement conducted by the party to embrace peace and dialogue so as not to jeopardize the chances of the party in the coming elections.
Mr Akase while reacting to the press statements made by some of the aspirants rejecting the zoning, reminded them that the interest and unity of the party is paramount and above any personal interests, stressing the need for all stakeholders to join hands and make the PDP stronger ahead of the elections.
The former Chief Press Secretary said all the governorship aspirants were present at Government House on April 17, 2022 when various groups and stakeholders including governorship aspirants unanimously endorsed and presented Rt Hon Titus Uba as their preferred choice to succeed Governor Samuel Ortom in 2023.
He said none of the aspirants objected the choice of Uba, and wondered why they would turn round 24 hours later to reject the consensus arrangement.
Mr Akase reminded his fellow aspirants that making inflammatory statements against the party is only playing into the hands of other political parties to take advantage of the situation and make things difficult for PDP.
He similarly appealed to supporters of the affected governorship aspirants to refrain from fanning the embers of discord and instead embrace and encourage intra party unity as a win for PDP will be a win for all of them.
