Benue guber: Abounu breaks silence on alleged plans to join APC

Engr. Benson Abounu, the Deputy Governor of Benue State and a frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has denied planning to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

There were reports that the Benue South PDP consensus candidate had concluded plans to pitch his tent with the opposition APC in the state.

However, his campaign council has described the report as false.

A statement issued by the campaign council on Saturday and obtained by IDOMA VOICE insisted that Abounu is still in PDP and still part of the struggle for a Zone C Governor.
The statement authored by Dan Edache Atayi reads below.

“The news making the rounds that H.E Benson Ocholuje Abounu is on his way to APC is false and from the pit of hell.
The Deputy Governor Engineer Benson Abounu in his usual Nature paid Alhaji Usman Abubakar A.K.A Young Alhaji a visit at his Otukpo residence today.

“Recall that Young Alhaji was sick and the Deputy Governor saw a need to check on him and know how he is doing.

“Outside politics, H.E Benson Ocholuje Abounu is a man that values friendship and relationship, so the news Coming out from APC media data boys is very fake and the general public is warned to stay away from such misleading information.

“H.E Benson Ocholuje Abounu is still in PDP and still part of the struggle for a Zone C Governor. We know this is just a way of discouraging H.E Benson Abounu but at this point there is no giving up as far as this zone C mandate is concerned.
“Let’s keep hopes alive as we walk to victory.”
