Benue: Gunmen abduct former Education Secretary, Sunday Ajeh in Ogbadibo

A former Education Secretary of Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State, Mr. Sunday Ajeh, was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen and taken to an undisclosed location.

The incident occurred around 6:30 pm while Ajeh was returning from a burial ceremony at Otukpa village on Wednesday.

According to a source, the armed men intercepted Ajeh after blocking the road at Agada Hill near Adum Oko village in the Orokam axis of the LGA.

“They forcibly took him and abandoned his vehicle by the roadside. People discovered the kidnapping upon finding his deserted car with no trace of him,” the source stated.

An alarm was raised, and local youths initiated a search for him. As of now, the abductors haven’t contacted his family, and their motives remain unknown.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed being unaware of the incident when contacted.

The Ogbadibo area has gained notoriety for armed men abducting commuters and travelers, particularly on major roads during the day, demanding ransoms for their release.
