Benue: Kidnappers kill civil defence personnel, bury him in shallow grave

Police operatives in Benue State have apprehended four suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of a schoolboy and a civil defence personnel. While the schoolboy was rescued alive, unfortunately, the civil defence personnel was found dead and buried in a shallow grave.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Emmanuel Adesina, disclosed that the arrest of the suspects, along with eight others for various crimes, occurred within the past three weeks.

He stated, “On February 21, 2024, at about 1530 hours, we received information that George Aondosoo Ayua of Asase 1, North Bank, Makurdi, was missing after school hours, and his kidnappers were demanding N6 million. Men of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force were deployed to rescue the victim and apprehend the suspects.”

Adesina continued, “A diligent pursuit of the suspects led the team to a hideout in Abua village, KM 16 Gboko Road, Makurdi, where the victim was being held by his captors. The victim was rescued unharmed, while two members of the gang, Ayua Moses and Azua Samson, were arrested. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other suspects at large.”
