The Tiv Youth Organization has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to discharge its constitutional responsibilities and stop attacking stakeholders.
The group was reacting to a recent comment credited to Mallam Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, who described Governor Ortom as someone who only sees the problems of others not his.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Shehu’s comment came following governor Ortom’s call for President Buhari’s resignation over the spate of killings in Benue and the country at large.
Recall that suspected herdsmen had during the week attacked Abagana, the community housing the Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs) in Benue, killings several persons and leaving others seriously injured.
Angered by the development, Governor said the best thing for the president to do is to take the exit door.
His comment did not go down well with the presidency who resorted to personal attack on the governor.
Reacting to the development, the youth group said Shehu’s statement is a clear indication that once more that President Buhari is bent on implementing the sinister agenda publicly announced by several Fulani groups including Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and the Fulani Nationality Movement especially with regard to killings in Benue State and other parts of the country.
The group in a statement signed by its President General , Timothy Hembaor, urged the Presidency to rise up to its constitutional responsibility including the protection of life and property, tackling of increasing hunger occasioned by a failed economy.
The statement reads in full below.
The Tiv Youth Organization read with dismay the reaction from the Presidency to Governor Samuel Ortom’s speech when he visited Abagana IDP camp near Makurdi after Fulani militia unleashed genocide on some of the hapless inmates.
The statement issued by Mallam Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity described Governor Ortom as someone who only sees the problems of others not his.
The Presidency advised the Governor to join hands with the federal government in tackling what he described as the fundamental issues responsible for the killings in the state.
Ordinarily, TYO would not have wished to waste its energy by responding to a statement made by Mallam Shehu who has the unenviable antecedent of bitting the fingers that feed him once his pocket is lined as reflected in the current manner he relates with his former boss, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
However, we wish to clarify certain issues with regard to this latest insensitive reaction from a complicit Presidency.
The TYO therefore wishes to observe that Mallam Shehu’s statement confirms once more that President Buhari is bent on implementing the sinister agenda publicly announced by several Fulani groups including Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and the Fulani Nationality Movement especially with regard to killings in Benue State and other parts of the country.
The TYO wishes to draw the attention of the Presidency to the fact that the primary Constitutional responsibility of government remains the protection of life and property of citizens.
This is the point which Governor Ortom emphasizes even in the face of persecution.
What does Garba Shehu mean by stating that Governor Ortom only sees the problem of others, he doesn’t see his own? Perhaps we need an explanation.
In the context in which the Governor referred to President Buhari with regard to the killings in Benue State, Ortom was addressing one of his problems, and that is genocide being carried out on his constituents.
How can someone in his right mind not see the murder of Benue citizens as Governor Ortom’s problem?
When Benue citizens are being killed on a daily basis, is that not Ortom’s problem?
Yes, it is also another person’s problem, that is President Buhari, as he is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
He is also totally in charge of all the security agencies. He swore to protect life and property and to safeguard the interest of all Nigerians.
To that extent it is President Buhari’s problem and if he doesn’t know, Ortom should point it out to him.
The President is first a Fulani man and Fulani leaders have announced publicly that their agenda is to conquer and occupy Nigeria and they are carrying it out.
So far, President Buhari has not shown by anyway that he is not part of that agenda.
Even in Mallam Garba Shehu’s statement, he did not deny that President Buhari is part of the agenda.
Mallam Shehu should come out publicly and tell Nigerians the President is part of the Fulani agenda, boldly declared by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM or not.
Let him refute Governor Ortom’s accusation if it is baseless.
Mallam Shehu’s claim that “Benue under the Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration ought to cooperate with the federal government in the implementation of a number of strategies programs in addressing underlying issues militating against peace, progress and development” ought to be clarified.
Is he referring to cooperation in the implementation of RUGA, cattle colony, grazing reserves and routes as well as acquiescence to the Fulani conquest and occupation agenda?
Mallam Shehu needs to specify the strategies program he is referring to.
On those listed above, Governor Ortom is clearly on parallel lines with President Buhari’s federal government its his fulanization agenda.
Governor Ortom has stated clearly that ranching remains the best global practice in animal husbandry.
As for cooperation with the federal government to ensure peace, progress and development, Governor Ortom has clearly made provision over the years.
He has purchased security patrol vehicles, gadgets, and has been providing funding support to Operation Whirl Stroke and other security agencies in Benue State.
It can be recalled that Governor Ortom also implemented an amnesty programme in 2015 in consultation with the federal government and President Muhammadu Buhari to be specific.
The big question is, will Mallam Garba Shehu take on every Governor who has been dissatisfied with the Presidency over security issues?
Will he take on every member of the National Assembly that is complaining against the Presidency in this regard?
Will he take on all other individuals and community leaders who are crying out daily about the worsening security situation in Nigeria?
If not, why single Governor Ortom out?
Is this not justification for the Governor’s fears with regard to the Buhari Presidency?
As the umbrella body of Tiv Youths worldwide, whose ethnic group along with all others in Nigeria, besides the Fulani, has been singled out for annihilation by the Buhari administration in accordance with the Fulani conquest and occupation agenda, we have concluded that the killings in Benue State are being sponsored and supported by the Presidency.
Part of the reason for this is the enactment and implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017 which exposes the Fulanization agenda by indicating that open grazing has only been a subterfuge.
Our conclusion is based on intelligence reports and the public statements of Fulani leaders including those from the Presidency like this from Mallam Shehu.
It is a fact that while Governor Ortom has the mandate of Benue people and has sworn to protect them, a pledge he has never reneged on even at the detriment of his life, the
Buhari administration has rather chosen to be implementing a Jihad on Benue and other parts of Nigeria.
The TYO urges the Presidency to rise up to its constitutional responsibility including the protection of life and property, tackling of increasing hunger occasioned by a failed economy, a battered international image owing to the high level of corruption being exhibited by high ranking government officials, some of them with links to terrorist organisations.
Lastly, we wish to send a strong message of caution to sons of the State who have chosen to be willing tools in the hands of our enemies such as one randy sacked university lecturer called Aondona Mkor who has taken sides with Fulani herdsmen against our people. Mkor’s latest outing was to castigate Governor Ortom for speaking out against injustice being visited on Nigerians by the Federal Government.
We view such conduct as a direct assault on our collective sensibilities and a dance on the graves of those killed by Fulani herdsmen. Mkor or whatever he calls himself and his employers should know that no one is above the general interest of the State. We advise him to tender a public apology to the Governor and victims of Fulani herders’ attack in Benue for his unguarded utterances
