Senator Gabriel Suswam has condemned Tuesday unfortunate and unprovoked attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen at the Abagena Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) Camp near Makurdi, Benue State.
Sen. Suswam said it was one attack too many and lamented why a people who have been dislodged from their natural habitat and have found temporal refuge under very difficult living conditions and survival be treated so inhumanly by the same people who caused them to leave their homesteads.
“The former governor joins all concerned Nigerians to call on the Federal Government to step up to its most important responsibility of protection of lives and property now and declare a state of emergency on security or risk having the citizens resort to self help.
“Sen. Suswam on behalf of the good people of Benue North East Senatorial District sends his heartfelt condolences to the State Government, the families of the victims and Benue people in general,” his media aide, Bede Bartholomew, said in a statement.
