A good spirited man named David Fanen Tsav has written to the
Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency (BENSESA) to permit him to clear refuse which has piled up in different locations across Makurdi, the state capital, defacing the city and making people to avoid some spots because of terrible smell.

In an open letter to the General Manager of BENSESA, Mr Fanen Tsav said his decision to clear the huge volume of refuse is borne out of his commitment to seeing that the capital city of his state is clean, since it appears that the government is not interested in living up to its responsibilities.

His letter read:

“Dear sir,
PERMISSION TO CLEAR MAKURDI METROPOLITAN, TO AVOID ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD.

“Reference to the above name subject matter: I write to formally request for an approval to help the agency and government of Benue state in handling the environmental issues in the state capital.

“In the last few days, it has being glaringly shown how inadequate the agency and perhaps; the government of Benue state is in handling a hygienic environment.

“But understanding the negative effect of unhygienic environment and the threat it posed to us a people, and with the understanding that government is a collective duty for all, myself and people of like minds, whom are zealous of a safe and prosperous Benue state have upon us duty it to clear the metropolitan city of Makurdi, hence the agency and the government of Benue cannot.

“Myself and team will need your approval to commence work in Makurdi this Saturday, 2-9-2023.

“We are not a cooperate body but we are determined to secure a Benue for all.

“Accept the assurance of my highest regards always.

“Thank you”.

In the last few days, social media activists in Benue State have taken to their timelines and handles to write about the worsening sanitation situation in Makurdi, calling on Governor Hyacinth Alia to be proactive in addressing the issues affecting the people.

At the time of this report, the Benue State Government was yet to respond to the cries of the people and Mr Tsav’s letter to BENSESA.
