1. The Legislative Council of Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, has suspended the Chairman of the local government, Hon. Prince Samuel Onuh over “gross misconduct”.

The council boss was suspended after a vote of no confidence was passed on him by members of the  legislative house on Thursday 10th February, 2022.

2. Benue, Taraba and Plateau states’ governments have reached a common ground to end the protracted dispute over their boundaries.The resolution was reached in Abuja after the affected communities met to present a report of the 2019 meeting and matters of its implementation.

3. Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed confidence that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP will triumph in next Saturday’s council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.He expressed confidence that the election would be a work over for the PDP due to the abysmal performance of the All Progressives Congress, stressing that the PDP’s anticipated victory will be a good signal towards the 2023 general election.

A Customary Court sitting in Pyakasa, FCT, has declared the Idoma tradition of denying women the right to divorce repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience.Another practice that was struck down sought to compel husbands to “return” their wives to the wife’s ancestral home in Igumale before a divorce could become final.

5. Idoma ethnic group has frowned at the judgment by a Customary Court sitting in Pyakasa, FCT, which declared the Idoma tradition of denying women the right to divorce repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience.This judgment, however, did not go down with many native of IDOMA, who believe the court wants to destroy their age-long tradition.

6.The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State held its Expanded Caucus meeting yesterday, 10th February, 2022, at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue People’s House, Makurdi.

Leader of the party in the state, His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Ortom PhD, and its State Chairman, Sir John Ngbede presided over the meeting which rose adopting the following timelines for the 2022 Local Government Council Elections slated to hold in the state in May, 2022:

7. A Makurdi High Court has fixed February 24, 2022, to deliver ruling on the motion for recuse, filed by Sesugh Akume through his counsel, Lubem Ukpo, in the N150 million libel suit instituted by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.When the case resumed Thursday, counsel to Akume, Lubem Ukpo drew the attention of the court to the motion for recuse, which he filed on January 13,2022.

8. The Benue Rebirth Movement has inaugurated a committee known as “March for Idoma Governor.”The committee was charged with the responsibility of planning, mobilizing and organizing a match on the 3rd of March, 2022 to register the voice of the entire state and amplify that of the Benue South Senatorial zone in the bid to clinch the apex position of the state.

9. The national association of Idoma students, under the able and amiable leadership of Comr Ameh Adah, has sent congratulatory notes to HRM, Dr John Elaigwu Odogbo.The association has noted that his emergence was divinely willed, thus all Idoma sons and daughters are enjoined to queue behind the leader of the most revered Idomoid kingdom.

10. Newcastle are ready to hand Idoma-born footballer, Moses Simon, a £100,000-a-week contract to join them in the summer.

According to reports, the Premier League side have made Simon, who currently plays for Nantes in France’s Ligue 1, their top priority ahead of next season.
