1. Leading Civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, (HURIWA) on Sunday, condemned the humiliation of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday by overzealous airmen of the Nigerian Air Force in Makurdi, the state capital.
In a statement, National Coordinator of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko, said barring an elected state governor and Chief Security Officer of a state from the NAF Base is an affront to the principle of democracy.

2. The chairman of the PDP campaign council for the FCT Council polls and Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom has warned the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC not to tamper with the results of the elections in AMAC and Kwali council polls.

He said that INEC should not allow itself to be influenced by a serving minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and a serving governor from the South East to change the wishes of the people of the FCT.

Report says the woman accused her daughter of smoking and sleeping with men.
4. There is an ongoing protest among youths in Otukpo over the alleged imposition of an aspirant on the people ahead of the LG polls in the state.
Youths of Otukpo are vexed that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party is trying to distort the age-long zoning formula, hence the protest.

John Uttuh AKA ‘John Paul’, the Benue South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader and leading contender for the Otukpo Council Chairmanship tussle has formally declared his intention to his Party and kinsmen from the Adoka/Ugboju axis (Zone B) of the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
A section of the ceremony took place at the residence of Hon. Barr. Paul Harris Adakole Ogbole (SAN) in Adoka-Ehaje ward, the political leader of Adoka District and Ogigo-Mebe K’Otukpo while Hon. Godwin Ochapa (Omo), the local government PDP Chairman played host to Hon. Uttuh and his entourage at his Ilaba residence in Ugboju-Otahe, Ugboju on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
7.  PDP elders of Adoka district, which comprises Entekpa, Adoka-ehaje and Adoka-icho council wards yesterday met in the party district leader’s house, Aune Adoka-ehaje and endorsed HON. JOHN SUNDAY UTTU. For Otukpo local government chairman in the forthcoming local government election scheduled for May 2022.
The elders pledged their total support for JohnPaul’s aspiration and charged all the youths in the area to do the same.
8. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has commiserated with the family of Mrs Theresa Bai over her sudden death on Friday, 11th February, 2022.

Governor Ortom during a condolence visit on the family of the deceased in Makurdi Saturday, 12th February, 2022 described the late Mrs Bai as a great woman who lived a fulfilled life and supported many in different aspects of life.

9. Sequel to the agreement reached by Benue PDP Caucus in a meeting held last week at the People’s Makurdi that all elective positions should be zoned to various areas in each of the 23 local government areas in the state so as to avoid marginalisation and crisis before and after the forthcoming Local Government election in Benue state, the good people of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State held an Expanded Stakeholders Meeting of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP on Sunday, 13th February, 2022 in Obagaji, the local government Headquarter and arrived that Zone A Area of Agatu LGA, made up of Odugbeho, Okokolo and Egba wards to produce the next chairman of the local council.
10. Immediate past Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comr. Pst Ojotu Ojema, today, Saturday, 12th February, 2022 in Apa local government area, declared his intention to vie for House of Reps seat for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 National Assembly election.
Ojema made this declaration at the party’s Secretariat in Ugbokpo, Apa LGA while interacting with members of the Local Working Committee of the party in the local council, saying he has entered the race in response to God’s call to serve the people of his Federal Constituency.
