1. Retired President of the Benue State Customary Court of Appeal, Margaret Igbeta has been killed in her residence on Wantor Kwange Street in Makurdi, Benue State.

The 72-year-old Igbeta was discovered lifeless and surrounded by a pool of blood on Thursday night. The assailants, yet to be identified, apparently carried out the gruesome act by spilling her blood throughout her home.

2. The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is currently attending an Executive leadership retreat for Nigerian Governors in Kigali, Rwanda. The retreat, scheduled from August 24th to 27th, 2023, is being funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The primary goal of the retreat is to provide a platform for public officials, including Governor Alia, to collectively reflect, learn, and exchange insights on effective leadership and complex challenges.

3. Gunmen have freed Dr Asema Msuega, serving in Sankera General Hospital in Ukum LGA.
Asema was abducted in July and has been in captivity since then, however, the NMA chairman, Dr Ushakuma Anenga confimed to Idoma Voice that the victim has been released.
