1. Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, on Saturday, condemned the murder of Justice Margaret Igbetar, a former President, Customary Court of Appeal by suspected assassins.
Fr Alia, who noted that the incident remains a shock to him, directed security agencies in the state to immediately swing into action and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book.
2. Tyover Dajoh has been appointed as the Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Wannune in Benue State
Dajoh was recently appointed as the Acting Rector following the appointment of the substantive Rector of the institution, Prof Utsev as the Minister of Water Resources and sanitation by President Sen Bola Tinubu.
3. Benue State governor, Rev.Fr.Hyacinth Alia Willie has congratulated Dr Tyover Dajoh on his recent appointment as the Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Wannune in Benue State.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Tersoo Kula , the governor acknowledges and appreciates the wealth of experience of the new Rector as demonstrated in his many years of lecturing in the Department of Cooperative Economics and Management, Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev.
4. The Benue State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has suspended the indefinite strike it declared on Friday over the abduction of their colleague Dr Asema Msuega in the Ukum Local Government Area.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its emergency general meeting held on Saturday in Makurdi.
5. A man named Aondohemba Joseph has been apprehended in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, in connection with the demise of Justice Margaret Igbetar, a retired President of the state Customary Court of Appeal.
Following concerns about Justice Igbetar’s whereabouts, the Benue Police Command launched an investigation. They discovered the judge in her kitchen, surrounded by her own blood and bearing deep cuts on her back on Friday.
6. The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom has expressed deep sadness over the murder of the former President of the Benue State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Margaret Igbetar in Makurdi.
The decomposing body of Justice Igbeta was Thursday, discovered in a poll of blood at her private residence located at No. 1, Wantor Kwange Street, Opposite College of Medicine, Benue State University, BSU, in Makurdi.
7. The ongoing killings in Ukum Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state has escalated with the reported murder of six persons including a beer parlour operator and a young man who was preparing for his wedding in the Chito community.
It was also gathered that one of the armed gangs operating in that axis of the state weekend mounted a roadblock around the Agboki settlement axis of the LGA, thereby making the Sankera -Chito -Vase road impassable.
8. Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has said he has not found statements on 57 government accounts domicilled in commercial banks.
Investigation showed in the governor’s handover notes, there were no traces of statements on the 57 government-owned accounts.
