  1. Tragic Suicide at Benue State University Makurdi Pedestrian Bridge A heartbreaking incident occurred in Makurdi, the capital of Benue state, as an unidentified teenager allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a pedestrian bridge. The lifeless body of the teenager was discovered near the first gate of Benue State University Makurdi.

  2. Gyenger Paul Remanded on Cyber Stalking and Defamation Charges Gyenger Paul has been remanded at the Federal Correctional Center in Yaikyor Makurdi, facing charges of cyber stalking, criminal defamation, and injurious falsehood. The trial magistrate, TK Atta, Esq, denied the oral application for bail and ordered the accused person to be remanded.

Governor Alia Pays Condolence Visit to Igbetar Family Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State paid a solemn visit to the Igbetar family to offer prayers and condolences following the passing of their beloved mother, Late Justice Margaret-Mary Igbetar (rtd). Benue Deputy Governor’s Counsel Dismisses Election Petition Chief Mike Mamman Osuman (SAN), the lead counsel to Benue State Deputy Governor, Samuel Ode, dismissed the Benue Governorship Election petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Titus Uba as “pedestrian.” Chief Osuman stated that the petition lacked probative evidence and human evidence was unnecessary.

Benue State Government Designates Schools as Flood Relief Camps The Benue state government has designated public schools in all 22 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state as camps for individuals expected to be affected by floods. Sir James Iorpuu, the acting Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), announced this during his visit to flood-prone communities in the state.

Sacked Benue Civil Servants Demand Reinstatement The 2,484 Benue civil servants who were sacked by Governor Hyacinth Alia in June have sent a letter to the state government, demanding their reinstatement within 30 days to avoid legal action. The letter, titled ‘Notice of Demands and 30 Days Pre-Action Notice,’ was submitted by their counsel, Mr. Samuel Irabor, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
