1. The Management of Benue State University in Makurdi has imposed a one-month suspension on all medical students from 200 to 600 levels.
This was made known in a memo shared by the Benue State University in Makurdi on Monday.
2. Suspected armed herdsmen, on Sunday, attacked communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, killing people no fewer than seven people.
It was gathered that three of the slain victims were cousins to the spokesperson for the police in the state, Catherine Anene.
3. Injured Inspector John Oriyan of Operation Zenda, a Joint Police taskforce under the Benue State Police command, was overwhelmed with joy when his colleagues led by the Commander, CSP Justin Gberindyer, appeared by his hospital bedside to support him with the sum of half a million naira, and an award for gallantry, resilience and dedication to duty.
Inspector Oriyan was admitted at the NKST hospital Mkar in Gboko local government area of Benue state sometimes in April, after he was crushed by a truck while on duty in Adikpo. The injuries he sustained led to the amputation of his right leg.
4. In its bid to stop the series of garnishee orders against the state government, Gov. Hyacinth Alia, has appealed to pensioners to withdraw all cases filed against it in court.
Some of the pensioners, who had sought relief from the court against the government over arrears of gratuities and pensions, were given consent judgment and subsequent garnishee orders.
5. The owner of London Line Automobile Workshop, Emmanuel Viashima on Monday, withdrew a suit he filed against the Benue Government over infringement of his fundamental rights to acquire and own a movable property.
Viashima had dragged the State Government and four others to court seeking for the enforcement of his fundamental rights pursuant to Order 1 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules, 2009.
