1. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Thursday presented the staff of office to HRM John Elaiwgu Odogbo as the 5th paramount ruler of Idoma land.
The Och’Idoma the fifth was conoranted at an epoch-making ceremony held in Otukpo, Benue State.
2.The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, on behalf of the good people of the Senatorial District, congratulates His Royal Majesty, Agaba-idu Dr. John Elaigwu Odogbo on the occasion of his coronation as Och’Idoma V and presentation of Staff of Office by His Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom, the Executive Governor of Benue State.
Senator Moro says the ascension of His Royal Majesty to the throne as the Paramount Ruler of Idoma land is a testimony of his proven track records of leadership ability.
3. A group of media practitioners under the aegis of Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ) has condoled with the chief press secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, Mr. Nathaniel Ikyur, over the death of his mother, Mama Rachael Mbawuhen Ikyur.
CBJ in a statement by its president, Dr. Anule Emmanuel, said the death of the CPS mother was sad at this time as her virtue of kindness and love for humanity is most needed now in the family and her community.
4. Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has challenged the people of Idoma land, to support the new Och’idoma, His Royal Majesty, Agaba-Idu, Pastor Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, to succeed in office.
The Governor, who also presented the staff of office to the paramount ruler at the headquarter of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue state, noted that under his watch, the traditional institution has made tremendous progress.
5. Agaba-Idu, HRM, Elaigwu Odogbo John, Och’Idoma V, has pledged fairness, equity, justice and peace, would be his watchword.
While dedicating the Idoma nation to God, the paramount ruler, also pronounced peace upon Idomaland and called on his subjects to be orderly and support policies that would bring peace to the domain.
6. A 55-year-old man, Sunday Oroke, was on Thursday docked in a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly stealing a cow.
The police charged Oroke, who lives in in Igumale town Ado Local Government Area of Benue with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
7. The All Progressives Congress, APC senatorial candidate for Benue South, Daniel Onjeh, has expressed anger over the reported attack on several communities in Benue State, asserting that a thousand cows are not worth the life of a single human.
Onjeh made the assertion on Wednesday at the Ojapo Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp, where he visited to commiserate with victims of Sunday, 12th June 2022 attack on Igama, Edumoga Ehaje Community of Okpokwu Local Government by suspected killer herdsmen.
8. Lobi Stars FC management has been dragged to a Makurdi Upper Area Court over alleged hotel debt of N516,000.
Idoga, who manages a hotel in Makurdi averred that all efforts to recover the money failed.
