1. Suspected bandits have abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Peter Amodu along Otukpo-Ugbokolo road in Benue South Senatorial District.

The Chancellor Diocesan of Otukpo, Rev. Fr.Joseph Itodo who confirmed the development in a statement, said the victim was on his way to Okwungagga -Ugbokolo to celebrate Holy Mass when the incident occurred.

2. Newly recruited officers and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) in Benue State have been charged to demonstrate courage and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Philip Okoh gave the charge at the passing out ceremony of the 216 officers and men which held at the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Square in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital on Thursday.

3. The Benue State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Sir Bernard Unenge Thursday disclosed that over 3,000 Certificates of Occupancy, C of O, have been issued to land owners in the state in the last two years following the commencement of Benue Geographic Information Service, BENGIS, project in the state.

The Commissioner said the coming of BENGIS had simplified the processing of land titles, supported by Governor Samuel Ortom’s speedy signing of titles unlike what obtained in the past.

4. Benue State Police command has arrested four suspected gun/ammunition runners with a total of 300 ammunition.

The command spokesperson Catherine Anene who disclosed this in a statement said the feat was accomplished through the officers of Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Zenda during a stop-and-search duty at Dura Bridge, Ugbema, in Buruku local government area of Benue State on 4th July, 2022, at about 1730hrs.

5. Fifty Christian widows in Benue State have benefitted from the one month skills acquisition training organized for them by the Kukah Center in conjunction with the Fountain of Life Church.

The Center also presented the sum of 50 thousand Naira each to each of the benefitting widows to help them start up their businesses and to enable them to become self-reliant.

6. Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Terver Akase has fulfilled his promise to sponsor the Information and Communications Technology, ICT for winners of the computer quiz competition organized by the Nigeria Computer Society, Benue State Chapter.

It would be recalled that Mr Akase in December 2021 at the grand finale of the competition which was for secondary schools in Benue State, promised to enroll winners of the competition at Greg & Co ICT Limited, Makurdi, as his modest way of encouraging the drive of Information and Communications Technology.
