Good morning, here are summary of Benue News this morning, Monday July 11, 2022.
1. A group under the aegis of Benue People of Conscience (B-POC) has accused the federal government of blocking the Benue state government from accessing the N41.39 billion loan approved by the State House of Assembly, to pay salaries of workers and pensions.
The group further accused the federal government of throwing spanners in the works of the political wheels of the administration of the Venue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and by extension, Benue State and its people.
2. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue South, has taken its final decision on the running mate of the party’s governorship candidate.
The former Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbe-led leadership narrowed down its decision to three persons.
3. The media office of the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro has, frowned at a press statement credited to a group called ‘Enoné APC Lawyers Forum’ in which the group ”…bemoaned the condemnable interference of the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro in the internal affairs of the APC in Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency otherwise known as Enoné.”
The media office urged the public to disregard the outbursts of the APC hirelings and see them as ventilations of frustration from drowning men who are desperately looking for what to clutch on to and blame for their woes on innocent people and find excuses for their imminent defeat.
4. A member of the House of Representatives and 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Benue State, Herman Hembe has urged Nigerians not to vote for APC again.
The lawmaker said the APC-led government has failed and thus does not deserve the votes of Nigerians.
5. The governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP) in Benue State, Dr Mathis Oyigeya, has assured Benue people of his ability to turn around their fortunes and make life better for all if voted into power.
He pointed out that his educational background and work experience as former Chief Medical Director at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi and a member of the boards of several institutions has sufficiently prepared him to occupy the position of governor and to work for the benefit of the people.
6. The Victims Support Fund (VSF) yesterday distributed 1,000 school bags with educational materials to school children in the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Naka, the capital of Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA), Benue.
The Chairperson, Emergency Support Program of VSF, Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Naka, Gwer West LGA of the state.
7. The Benue State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals has successfully captured the land data of at least 10 out of the 23 local government areas of the state.
The ministry’s commissioner, Bernard Unenge, made this known while briefing journalists about the progress so far recorded on the Benue Geographic Information System (BENGIS) Project.
8. Rev Fr Peter Amodu, the Catholic priest, abducted by gunmen in Benue State on Wednesday has been released.
The abducted catholic priest was released on Friday at about 8:30pm, is in charge of Holy Ghost Parish at Eke-Olengbeche, under Otukpo Diocese.
