1. The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has committed N3 billion to the Federal University of Health Science, Otukpo, Benue State.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Innocent Uja, disclosed this on Friday at a press conference held at the temporary site of the institution located at Otada, a suburb of Otukpo, Benue State.

2. The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Emmanuel Shior has revealed that no fewer than seventy births have been recorded at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the state.

He also stated that the recent attack by herdsmen in the state has displaced another 200 persons in Okpokwu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

3. The Tiv Youth Council Worldwide has lambasted Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for calling on the Nigerian government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Ortom on Thursday asked the Nigerian government to release the IPOB leader as part of the peace-building effort in the country, describing Kanu’s issue as a socio-political challenge that should be dealt with politically.

4. The Equal Access International, EAI, in collaboration with CLEEN Foundation have commenced a three day training for stakeholders from Guma, Agatu and Gwer West Local Government Areas, LGAs, of Benue state to stem insecurity in the LGAs in its Securing Nigeria Community Project, SNCP.

The training which has in attendance, Local Government Council Chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, security personnel, youth and women groups as well as other stakeholders from the targeted LGAs is also aimed at better equipping the people with the strategy to nip in the bud acts that could create and escalate crisis in the communities.

5. A member of the Benue state House of Assembly representing Agatu state constituency, Hon. Godwin Abu Edo, on Friday urged state governments to give more support to local government councils and traditional rulers to enable them to effectively tackle insecurity at the local level.

Edo also called for financial autonomy for state assemblies to prevent overdependence of the legislative arm of the government on the executive.

6. A Benue girl identified as Dooyum Vanessa Iyornumbe has been declared missing.

It was reported that Vanessa was seen leaving her family house in Gboko sometime in April 2022 and has not been seen ever since.
