1. The abducted Catholic priest in Otukpo, Benue State, Reverend Fr. Peter Amodu, has been released.
In a statement issued by the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo and signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr Joseph Itodo said that the priest was released late hours of Friday.
2. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has called for religious freedom for all Nigerians.
Ortom, however, noted that Nigeria, as a country, was under siege due to the activities of terrorists with the attendant bombing of churches and killing of clergy and worshippers.
3. Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has described the terror attacks on president Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy and Kuje Prison, as national embarrassment, even as he called on Muslims in the country to pray against the unabating security challenges in the country.
He said the deteriorating situation arguably demands divine intervention, noting that the alarm he earlier raised has vindicated him.
4. Idoma-born filmmaker Julius Onah has been named as the director of the fourth installment Marvel’s Captain America franchise.
Julius is born in Makurdi, Benue state to late Nigerian ambassador Adogah Onah. He is best known for his directorial and producer roles in 2019 social thriller drama “Luce” which starred Octavia Spencer and Naomi Watts, and 2018 thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, which also starred Nigerian British actor David Oyelowo.
5. The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has distributed a total of N1.8 million worth starter kits to graduate beneficiaries of its ‘School On the Wheels in Benue State.
Director-General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, who disbursed the equipment and tools to beneficiaries in Makurdi, said the gesture was aimed at combating poverty among youths.
6. The paramount ruler of Idoma nation, HRM Elaigwu Odogbo, has expressed his deep appreciation to God and the people of Idoma land over his emergence as the Och’Idoma V.
He appreciated all Idoma sons and daughters around the globe for their massive support and belief in the Idoma project.
7. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has flagged off the 2022 cropping season with the distribution of improved seeds to rural farmers in the 23 local governments areas of the state.
Ortom, during the ceremony at the premises of the Bureau of Local Government and Chiefteincy Affairs (BLGCA) in Makurdi, at the weekend, directed the council chairmen to ensure that the improved seeds are given to genuine farmers for onward cultivation in this year’s farming season.
8.Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has called on Muslims in the country to pray against the unabating security challenges in the country, saying that the deteriorating situation arguably demands divine intervention.
The Governor said it is an understatement to submit that the nation is overwhelmed by the security challenges and sighted the recent terrorists attack on Kuje prison and the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy as “a national embarrassment.”
