1. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has rescued a 12-year-old girl reportedly deceived into marriage to a 50-year-old farmer in Benue State.

The Makurdi Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mrs Gloria Bai, on Wednesday, said the victim was married off by her family.

2. A Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded two farmers, Iorfa Pinen and Saaior Amahundu of Turan Village in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State for allegedly abducting their colleague.

The police had arraigned Pinen and Amahundu with five counts of criminal conspiracy, abduction, criminal force, armed robbery and inciting public disturbance.

3. The Benue State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has dismissed report of collapsing its structures for the Labour Party in the state describing the report as false and mischievous.

Reacting to the development, Vice Chairman of SDP in Benue state, Emmanuel Ibyabya said Enemari does not have the authority to speak for the party as he has since been expelled from SDP.

4. Five people were reportedly killed on Monday during an attack by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on a community in Anter Mbalagh Council Ward of Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

Sources from the area disclosed to reporters that the unknown gunmen stormed the community in a commando manner and started shooting sporadically in all directions while the people were working on their farms.

5. Chief Philip Agbese, the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for Ado/Ogbadigbo/Okpokwu federal constituency in Benue State, has likened the party’s governorship candidate, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, to a messiah on a mission to rebuild the state like Jerusalem.

Agbese, who spoke on Wednesday, when the leadership of over 20 Pro-Alia youth organisations paid him a courtesy visit at his Guzape Mansion media office, Abuja, described the APC candidate as a healer set to restore the state’s lost glory decimated by the current administration.
