1. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has given the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the state a one-month ultimatum to return to classes or face ‘no work no pay’ treatment from the government.

The governor gave the directive during an expanded caucus meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Makurdi. Ortom said he is not owing ASUU and so, they shouldn’t be on strike.

2. Stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zone C of Benue State on Saturday called for the quick intervention of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullah Adamu in the crisis ravaging the party over the selection of a deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 election.

The stakeholders warned that unless the Adamu-led national leadership wades into the dispute and amicably and objectively resolves the matter, the party might be heading for the rocks in the coming election.

3. Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State chapter, Rev. Akpen Leva has condemned the recent killing of a pastor in Borno Kuku in Gasol local government area of Taraba State by unknown gunmen even as he called on the clergymen in the country to be vigilant while preaching the word of God.

Leva while reacting to Maji’s killing lamented that the attention of the bandits seems to be more on the clergymen these days even as he stressed the need for clergymen to be watchful as they spread the gospel message.

4. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, had accepted the advice given to him regarding his disagreement with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

5. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has condemned the Water Resources Bill at the National Assembly, saying it is an evil legislation that must not be allowed to survive and has mobilised lawmakers from the state to oppose the bill.

He said the controversial Water Resources Bill is another RUGA and that the cattle colony encourages open grazing, domination, Fulanization, and Islamization of Nigeria through the back door.

6. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has said that the recently circulated video showing bandits whipping the kidnapped victims of the Abuja train attack and the threat by the bandits to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and other government functionaries were clear indications that there is no government in Nigeria.

The Governor lamented that the All Progressives Congress, APC, led Federal Government had plunged Nigerians into unimaginable suffering saying that the economic and social life of Nigerians as well as the security of the people had all collapsed under the watch of the government.

7. A group of people living with disabilities, under the platform of the National Association of People Living with Disabilities, Benue State Chapter, on Monday, stormed the Benue State Government’s House to protest the lack of employment opportunities and nonpayment of bursary allowances to their members.

The members of the association were seen gathering in large numbers in front of the state government house.

8. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said his recent trip to the United Kingdom and the United States of America afforded him the opportunity to correct the wrong narrative given to the international community on the mayhem unleashed on the state by terrorists.

The Governor explained that the mindless killings and invasion of Benue communities by terrorist herdsmen have been twisted before the international community by some powerful forces to mean they were mere clashes as a result of climate change and other environmental issues.

9. The Federal Ministry Of Education, FME, in collaboration with Benue State Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, have commenced the training of members of Mothers’ Association, Community Volunteers and Head Teachers for the implementation of the Back-to-School-Campaign in Benue state.
The intervention is a United Nations Children’s Fund, Global Partnership for Education, Federal Ministry of Education, UNICEF/GPE/FME, supported campaign in the State.

10. The Police Command in Benue on Monday arraigned one Ushahemba Yough, 30, before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Rachael Mchiave, told the court that Yough was arrested by personnel of Operation Zenda, led by Insp Abdullahi Mohammed, on June 20, in Gboko.
