1. There was a fire outbreak at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Makurdi, Benue State branch.
The apex bank called the fire outbreak a minor incident. It said, “A minor fire occurred at our Makurdi Branch at about 7.00 a.m. today, Thursday, April 21, 2022, and was swiftly checked moments after it was detected.
2. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has nominated his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase, and one other as Special Advisers.
It was gathered that the House gave the approval during Wednesday’s plenary following a request in a correspondence from the Governor signed by the secretary to the state government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor SAN and read by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba.
3. A panel of political analysts has submitted that the ongoing process to arrive at a consensus choice of a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP 2023 governorship candidate in Benue State is a collective decision involving critical stakeholders of the party.
4. The Benue state Police Command on Thursday, arraigned Terver Ukyagh, 35, and a housewife, Sewuese Peter, 35, before a Makurdi Upper Area Court over alleged criminal conspiracy, adultery and intimidation.
They stated this Thursday, April 21, 2022 on Brothers FM 90.5 audience participatory programme, ‘Burning Issues’ while analysing matters arising from the Benue PDP guber zoning and consensus process.
5. Christian Mothers within North Bank in Makurdi, Benue State capital, on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest over the activities of cultists and other criminals.
Some of the displayed placards with various inscriptions such as: ‘Mothers are crying, stop beginning shame and embarrassment to us’,’our youths should embrace God and shun cultism,’ et al.
6. 2023 governorship aspirant in Benue State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Terver Akase has appealed to aspirants who feel aggrieved over the recent zoning arrangement conducted by the party to embrace peace and dialogue so as not to jeopardize the chances of the party in the coming elections.
Mr Akase while reacting to the press statements made by some of the aspirants rejecting the zoning, reminded them that the interest and unity of the party is paramount and above any personal interests, stressing the need for all stakeholders to join hands and make the PDP stronger ahead of the elections.
7. Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured its members and all persons aspiring to elections on its platform of fair and equitable opportunities in a transparent process which will be concluded on a level field of play.
The party noted that as its internal processes initiated to achieve harmonious nomination of a candidate for the Governorship election in 2023 draw to a close, there have naturally sprung up expressions of dissatisfaction from some quarters, this was contained in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom.
