1. Again five kinsmen of Governor Samuel Ortom were at the early hours of Tuesday reportedly murdered in an attack on his hometown, Ahentse community in Ndzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, LGA, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Report says the attack which started at about 4am and lasted about two hours left some persons with severe injuries.
2. Governor Samuel Ortom has confirmed attacks on Ahentse village in Ndzorov council ward of Guma local government of Benue State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
Nzorov which is the council ward of Governor Ortom and his Special Assistant on Special Duties, Abrahams Kwaghngu, was attacked on Tuesday night when the assailants invaded the community shooting sporadically and gunned down unspecified number of villagers.
3. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday hinted that the forthcoming local government election in the state would produce 69 women councillors and nine female chairmen in all 23 councils on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Our correspondent reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had pulled out of the local government election scheduled to hold on May 7 on grounds that the results of the exercise were already determined by the state government.
4. Following the release of the timetable for political activities leading up to the 2023 general elections, the electorate in Benue State have been asked to rise up and take a stand.
Residents of the state, especially eligible voters have been advised to queue behind the state governor, Samuel Ortom in his bid to represent the good people of Benue North at the Senate.
5. The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, on Tuesday moved a Motion on the floor of the Senate on the need for inmates in correctional centers to vote.
