  1. Onjeh Condemns House of Reps’ Move Against Governor Alia’s Aides

    Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Benue South Senatorial District in the 2023 general election, has criticized the House of Representatives’ Committee on Public Petitions for inviting some aides of Governor Hyacinth Alia. Onjeh, in a statement released on Tuesday, denounced the action as part of a “mischievous scheme to discredit Governor Alia.”

  2. Troops Eliminate Three Suspected Armed Herdsmen in Apa Local Government Area

    Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have reported the successful neutralization of three suspected armed herdsmen who attacked them in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State. General Sunday Igbinomwanhia, the Force Commander of OPWS, disclosed this information on Monday in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

  3. Suspected Bandit Attacks Claim Lives in Kwande and Apa LGAs

    Several individuals, including a soldier, were reportedly killed in separate attacks by suspected bandits in Kwande and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State. According to local reports, the incidents occurred between Saturday and Sunday in Udedeku community of Maav-Ya, Mkoonmom District of Mbaikyor Council Ward, Turan Jato-Aka, and Ochumekwu in Kwande and Apa LGAs, respectively.

  4. APC Stakeholders Set Conditions for Governor Alia’s Support

    Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have outlined conditions for their support towards Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration. They have stated that until the governor recognizes Senator George Akume as the leader of the party in the state, he will not enjoy their backing.

  5. Senator Zam Laments Loss of Peace in APC Since Governor Alia’s Tenure

    Senator Titus Zam, the federal lawmaker representing Benue North West, expressed lamentation over the perceived loss of peace within the All Progressives Congress (APC) since the assumption of office by Governor Hyacinth Alia. Speaking on behalf of the APC members in Benue at a party stakeholder meeting in Makurdi, Zam regretted that the party is now seemingly under siege.

  6. Benue Chief Judge Dismisses Claim of Tiv Cultural Practice

    The Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Maurice Ikpambese, has dismissed as malicious the claim that Tiv men offer their spouses to male guests for sexual pleasure under Tiv native law and custom. Justice Ikpambese made this declaration on Tuesday in Makurdi while delivering judgment in a case filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Mzough U Tiv against the Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC).
