  1. Tuberculosis Cases: The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese, reported that the state recorded over 7,000 cases of Tuberculosis (TB) in 2023. During a press briefing to kick off the 2024 World TB Day commemoration in Makurdi, he mentioned that the state ranked first for TB burden in the North Central region and sixth nationwide.

  2. Legal Case on Local Government Officials: Justice P T Kwahar of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi, has set May 8, 2024, as the date for ruling on preliminary issues in a lawsuit challenging the unconstitutional removal of elected local government officials in the state. The suit, marked MHC/346/2024, involves Sesugh Akume versus the Governor of Benue and four others. The judge mentioned that after settling the preliminary issues, the court will proceed to set a date for the judgment.

  3. IDOMA VOICE Redesign: The leading newspaper and online news source in the North Central region, IDOMA VOICE, unveiled a fresh new look for its website ahead of its 15th anniversary celebration. This redesign, the first major one in years, aims to provide users with an improved and enjoyable experience. Publisher Ameh Godwin shared the news of the platform’s revamped appearance.

  4. Burial of Unclaimed Corpses: The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi conducted the burial of 74 unclaimed corpses that had been held in its morgue. This task of evacuating and interring the bodies was carried out by the Benue State Sanitation Agency (BENSESA).

  5. Governor’s Statement on APC Chairman: Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, refuted claims suggesting that he called for the resignation of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. This clarification was made through a press statement released on Wednesday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula.
