Benue Ombudsman decries Yelwata massacre, calls for lasting peace
The Benue State Office of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has strongly condemned the recent assault on Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area, labelling it as “barbaric, archaic, reprehensible, worrisome, and unacceptable.”
In a statement on Tuesday, the Honourable Federal Commissioner of the PCC in Benue State, Rt. Hon. Chief James Ogaba Oche, voiced deep concern over the violent killings and destruction of properties during the attack.
According to him, the incident was a direct attempt to undermine the sanctity of life and property in the state.
“The Benue State Office of the Public Complaints Commission wishes to condemn in unequivocal terms, the recent attack on the people of Yelewata Community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State which led to the indescribable killing of innocent Nigerians and destruction of property,” the statement read.
