Benue PDP bleeds as ex-Gov, Suswam announces intention to join APC
Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has formally declared his intention to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing a commitment to align with the Federal Government for the development of Benue State.
Suswam, a two-term governor and former senator, said his decision marks a new phase of cooperation with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia, aimed at ensuring Benue benefits more effectively from national programs and opportunities.
Describing the move as a transition from political rivalry to people-centered governance, Suswam emphasized that genuine progress requires unity among Benue’s leaders. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to tackle insecurity, unemployment, and infrastructure deficits across the state.
In a statement issued by his Personal Assistant, Emmanuel Hangeior, Suswam noted that his decision underscores a broader call for reconciliation and collective responsibility.
“The time has come for Benue leaders to close ranks and put the people first,” Hangeior stated.
“Senator Suswam’s move reflects a new spirit of collaboration — one focused on unity, progress, and the prosperity of Benue State.”
