The Benue chapter of People Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Hon. Sir, John Ngbede has bagged the award for best in politics by G4 media international.
Also honoured is Hon. Usman Alilu the caretaker chairman of Agatu local area of Benue state who emerge “The Young Chairman of the year”.
Recently honoured were the Otukpo local government chairman Chief George Alli, the 2nd Class Chief and the Ad’otukpo the Och’Adoka Alegwu of Adoka.
Speaking during the award ceremony at Adoka the theme “Enhancing Security and values to Service to humanity in a Security-Challenged Polity”, Chairman of the Media Organization Comr. Emmanuel Ondaje Stephen, the CEO of G4 media international described Journalists practice as endangered species.
Acvording to him: “Our main duty as watchdogs of the society is to support, showcase, encourage and award unsung heroes of our society.” He said.
Reiterating that the theme of the award is projecting unsung heroes was apt, he lamented that “Journalists are being killed while covering events. When you report the truth, some persons are not happy”. He, however, charged Journalists not to be daunted in keeping the flag flying.
Chairman of Otukpo traditional council HRH chief Samuel Awulu Onu Council noted that the theme of the vision was chosen due to the “unfolding and unending attacks in our society in media responsibility to encourage Men and women who have sacrifice there life for Nigeria nation.Comr. Emmanuel said; “Needless to say that security of Journalists remains pivotal and central towards building an egalitarian society as there can never be a true democracy without a vibrant media practice and secured press freedom.” the G4 media was born out Vision to Bring the True practice of Journalism the hand of Real professional to Defend and support the Nation.
“Government that has something to hide should be talking of regulating the digital media in our society.
“Regulation of the digital media will lead to a lot of negative consequences such as professional incompetence, increase in corruption, lack of public accountability by leaders, undermining of national unity, stunting of growth of federalism, increase in economic problems, promotion of sycophancy and intolerance of criticism by the press. ” The selection of Chief Hon. Sir, John Ngbede and the Agatu local government chairman is a sign of true media practicing in Nigeria he said.
