Benue: Police recover six bodies after deadly attack on farmers in Apa
Benue State Police Command has recovered six bodies following a deadly assault on farmers in Apa Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred in the early hours of March 13, 2026, involved suspected armed herders targeting cashew farms in Asaba, Ojantele, and Okpette communities.
A joint security team of police, military personnel, and local youths launched search and rescue operations in nearby forests, aiming to locate victims and track down the attackers.
The Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, confirmed that additional security forces have been deployed to strengthen ongoing operations and ensure a coordinated manhunt. Security patrols have also been intensified across affected communities and other parts of the state.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and provide any information that could assist authorities in their ongoing operations.
