Benue set to host first national food city complex
The long-awaited national food city project is officially taking shape in the Ogyoma community of Benue State, where Governor Hyacinth Alia has appealed to residents to guarantee the security of foreign contractors and project facilities.
The governor’s message was delivered during the formal transfer of 34,000 hectares of land in Ogyoma, located in the Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area.
Leading the state delegation, the Executive Secretary of the Benue Investment Promotion Agency, Johnpaul Kpenkaan, accompanied officials of the consortium to the project site. They were warmly welcomed by community members, traditional rulers, and chiefs.

Representing Governor Alia, Kpenkaan reminded the host community of its obligation to protect every foreign expert and safeguard the multimillion-naira development, stressing that the success of the initiative depends heavily on local cooperation.
Benue is among six states selected for the pilot phase of the national food city complex, a strategic move aimed at boosting food production and agricultural investment nationwide.
