Benue: Shocking details emerge over bank robberies in Otukpo

Some details of the October 20 Otukpo bank robbery that left about 15 persons dead.
According to a reliable source, the robbers attacked four banks, Access Bank, First Bank, U.B.A and Zenith Bank.
The information had it that seven persons were killed at the UBA, two persons were killed at Zenith Bank, two at Stanbic IBTC while about three perons were killed at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Otukpo which is located directly opposite, beside and adjacent the main branch of First Bank in Otukpo town, the Stanbic Bank and Access Banks.
Also, at the Homeland Defense Office, the local vigilantes’ office, two persons were gunned down but only one of them is alive at the time of filing this report.
The report also has it that as the robbers were making out of the town after two hours of uninterrupted robbery, soldiers reportedly barricaded them along Otukpo/Taraku road and killed one of the robbers during exchange of gunfire. However, the robbers successfully left with deceased gang member’s remains.
