Dan Onjeh, the Board Chairman of Project Development Institute, PRODA, has officially declared interest in the Benue South Senatorial race.
With this declaration, Onjeh is expected to quit his job as chairman of PRODA board.
Buhari had asked his appointees wishing to contest the 2109 election to resign or quit their political ambitions less than three months to the poll.
The development forced APC guber candidtae in Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi to resign his appointment as Minister of Mines and Steel Development.
Onjeh had hinted he will be contesting in 2019 for the same seat, following his appointment of a veteran broadcaster, Daniel Ekah, as his media Director.
However, Onjeh in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday night, said he would once again give the senatorial seat another shot, having failed to clinch the seat twice.
He wrote, “Benue South Senatorial Race: Finally, I threw my hat into the ring!
“Having consulted with the relevant and crucial stakeholders of my party at both state and national levels, I made my intention to contest for the Benue South Senatorial election known today, through a formal declaration at my ward, Orokam II, in Ogbadibo local government.”
