Immediate past President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has declared his support for Comrade Abba Moro, ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Abba Moro is gunning for the Benue South senatorial seat currently being occupied by Mark on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
There were speculations that Mark, who has held the position for close to two decades, was interested in going to the Red Chamber in 2019.
Observers had alleged that the drama that played out during the primaries of the PDP in Makurdi was orchestrated by Mark to meander his way into the senate.
However, findings by this reporter have shown that Mark, a former military administrator was in no way interested in the seat again.
Further arguments were laid to rest during the weekend when Mark declared his support for Moro, who was his campaign Director General.
Confirming the development, a member of the Abba Moro media team, Josephine Akioyamen, said Mark was fully behind the former Interior Minister.
She wrote, “Distinguished Senator David Mark throws his support behind Abba Moro, thus putting to rest the rumours being pushed by the APC that he was still interested in going back to the Senate.”
Confirming the development, the Director, Media and Publicity of the Abba Moro Campaign Organisation, Ameh Comrade Godwin, said Mark was never against Moro’s candidature.
“That is no news, my brother. Who told you Mark was against Comrade (Moro) in the first place?
“The fact that he (Mark) is yet to publicity endorse Moro (before now) for senate doesn’t mean he’s against his ambition.
“Okpani (Mark) is always for good governance, which Comrade Abba Moro represents.
“Senator Mark can’t afford to support a novice or any political leper as his successor. I can authoritatively tell you that Senator Mark is fully behind Comrade Abba Moro, for a #Better2Moro.
