A Senatorial aspirant and former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Chief Mike Onoja has denied media reports that he would not step down for the former Senate President, David Mark ahead of 2019 general elections.
In a press statement issued by his campaign organization, in Abuja, and made available to DAILY POST by his media aide, Agbo Adah, he sakd: ‘’My attention has been drawn to news headlines making rounds to the effect that i will not step down for Senator David Alechenu Mark, the former President of the senate in the 2019 general election.’’
Continued , he stated that: ‘’we want to categorically state that they could just be an inference drawn by the Pilot Newspapers reporter, from an answer to one of the questions during his engagement with journalists in Benue”.
Describing the report as sensational, he explained further that he merely responded to questions about him having a relative disadvantage in contesting for zone C Senatorial zone of Benue State.
He added: ‘’the headline is not only misleading but sensational targeted at causing a rift between him and the distinguished Senator representing Zone C in the National Assembly.”
‘’There was nowhere in the course of the interactions was Senator Mark mentioned or any aspirants for that matter. ’’
‘’For avoidance of doubt, Senator Mark, is one of the illustrious sons of Idoma land and Benue state. ”
“I wish to make it clear that i hold Senator Mark in high esteem, as a brother and that the relationship between Onoja and Senator Mark is very cordial and mutually respectful.”
He vowed to contribute his quota to the Senatorial zone if given the mandate come 2019.
