A lot have been said about the person of Comr. Abba Moro; beautiful things that gladden the soul of even a sadist. I had known Abba Moro from afar. I heard about him when he was a lecturer in Benue state Polytechnic, Ugbokolo; Students of the institution always talked about him. Then, on popular demand, he became the Executive Chairman of his LGA, Okpokwu. As Executive Chairman, his name kept ringing at home as if he was the governor. He was a Chairman known very well in Makurdi town and in the entire Benue South. He was an extraordinary Council Chairman who towered over his colleagues.
Abba Moro became a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, by Providence and through the help of H.E. Distinguished Senator David Mark, and there he displayed rare qualities that placed Benue South and Benue state at an enviable position in the country. Not a few families will forget ‘Abba Moro’ in life for what he did for them when he was a Minister.
‘Abba Moro’ is now larger than the man bearing the name, it’s no longer just a name but a kind of movement and a way of life. Any elected public office holder who feels the pains of his people and addresses the pains adequately and promptly is an ‘Abba Moro’. A rich man who attends to the needs of the less privileged and his community is an ‘Abba Moro’. When helping people to achieve their goals becomes your hobby, know that you are an ‘Abba Moro’. When the interest of your people is far and above your personal interest, that’s ‘Abba Moro’. When the tears of others make you cry and their smiles make you happy, that’s ‘Abba Moro’.
‘Abba Moro’ is everything about others and nothing about self, it’s a selfless life style that puts the interests of others ahead of personal interests, it’s a way of God. People ask me; ‘What’s so special about this your Abba Moro that you won’t let us hear word about him?’ My response has always been that ‘Abba Moro is not more special than anybody, since we are all created in God’s image, but he will provide special representation as a Senator that Benue South, Benue state and Nigeria at large will be proud of.’
As February 16, 2019, draws closer, let’s keep the fire burning, let’s keep spreading the ‘Abba Moro’ message, from the villages in Ogbadibo, through the hamlets in Okpokwu, to the homes in Apa, to the streets in Otukpo, to every room in Ohimini, to the market squares in Agatu, to the villages in Ado, to the streets in Obi, and to the villages in Oju. Let us not rest until every youth, every man and every woman in all the nooks and crannies of the senatorial district hears us. Let us sing it from the mountain top and shout it loud from tree top that ‘Abba Moro’ is the way to go!
We gain ALL if we support and vote for Abba Moro, so let’s make it happen on Saturday, February 16, 2019!
