The aphorism that anguish is one of the early causes of the expiration of the ravenous scoundrels appears to lacerate as we trudge towards party primaries.
This could be gleaned from a video uploaded by the camp of Rt. Hon Hassan Saleh who is presently gunning for the senatorial slot of the Benue – South Senatorial District, a position currently occupied by the Comrade Senator.
Though the video fastener displays Senator Abba Moro pouring encomium on Saleh for endowing some members of the Enone Federal Constituency and urging the people to support him when he was a member of the House of Representatives about 10 years ago, it is a portrayal of the Senator as a good man with a good soul, a patriot, a lover of good things who means well for his people.
It shows that Senator Abba Moro is a man of integrity and a progressive-minded heart who would not hesitate to exhort exemplary stint.
Again, the video demonised the competitor as an ungrateful human being who pays evil for good. Ordinarily, it ought to have been a case of one good turn deserving another but its attitude appears to have given vent to the Idoma conceit of “Anyebe” which metaphorically implies that “if you rescue an animal, it will flee into the bush but if you rescue a human being, he will devour you”.
From the video clips, it will be impossible for people to remain comfortable working for Saleh as it might be inferred that, ‘tomorrow, he might swerve against me’.
What was meant to de-market Senator Abba Moro in my judgment is promoting him and debasing the provider of the video clip in the political environment of Benue – South.
Those who unveiled the video have inadvertently and unknowingly promoted Senator Abba Moro as a good man who has one purpose – the development & progress of his people. A trait we all desire in a good leader. They have bought him more sympathy than scorn. They accrued to him more compassion than disdain. They won him more love and support than hate. They have portrayed him in a positive light without deducing.
It is a case of those who God wants to lift, their enemies will become their climbing ladders. This is how not to run down a product. It is propaganda in an amateurish manner. Maybe, there is a need for more education from the Catholic Church who invented propaganda and the works of Josef Gobel and Uche Chukwumerije.
