Comrade Abba Moro, the Senator-Elect for Benue South Senatorial District has described his victory at the Court of Appeal on thursday in Makurdi, as a confirmation of the mandate thrusted on him by the good people of the zone.
The Court of Appeal had on Thursday dismissed the appeal case brought before it by Joseph Ojobo, challenging the judgement of the High Court, which upheld the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary election that produced Comrade Moro as its senatorial flagbearer, for lack of merit.
Reacting to the judgement, Comrade Moro said the verdict has further confirmed that he was dully elected and nominated by the delegates of the PDP at the primaries.
In a terse statement issued Thursday evening, the Senator-Elect described the ruling as a classical manifestation of the revalidation of the mandate given to him by the party and the good people of the senatorial district.
He said the decision of the court was a clear indication that his emergence at the PDP Primary for Benue South Senatorial District, was legitimate, freely given and the confidence of the people in him.
“Today’s judgement at the Appeal Court has further revalidated the mandate given to me by delegates of the party in the last primary election.
“This has once again silenced some detractors who are hell bent on robbing the people of Benue South true and vibrant representation at the Red Chamber.”
Moro further promised “to do everything that is constitutionally right to bring dividends of democracy to the door steps of my constituents and beyond”.
The former Minister of Interior also expressed appreciation to the judiciary for standing by the truth, which led to the reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to him by delegates of the party in the last primary election.
