Benue South Development: Senator Abba Moro meets with House of Assembly members

Distinguished Senator Abba Moro, yesterday, met with members of the Benue State House of Assembly from Benue South Senatorial District, to discuss the way forward for the development of the Zone. The meeting was called a day after the Distinguished Senator met with Local Government Chairmen from Benue South where they discussed extensively on how to end the nagging security situation in the Zone.

Addressing the delegation, Comrade Moro stressed the need for the Lawmakers to be closer to the people who gave them the mandate they are holding, to know their needs and solve their problems within their capabilities. He said he was aware of the hard times confronting the country, in terms of economic hardship, but encouraged the Lawmakers not to forget their people.

On the agitation for the governorship position from Zone C, Senator Moro urged the Lawmakers to engage their colleagues and other critical stakeholders from Zones A and B in a persuasive manner and appeal to their conscience, to give Benue South a chance in 2023. He promised them of his continued support and availability to help them deliver on their campaign promises to the people.

Responding, the leader of the delegation and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chris Adaji, thanked the Senator immensely for his support all the time and his good works in Benue South. He said he was so impressed with the Senator’s legislative activities in the Senate and his impact in the lives of the people of Zone C within a very short time. He said they, in the House of Assembly from Zone C, had resolved to work together and with other leaders in the Zone to bring development to the land, despite the economic hardship in the country.

On the agitation for 2023, the Deputy Speaker said he and his colleagues would continue to talk to their colleagues from the other Zones to give Zone C a chance to govern the state. He used the opportunity to appeal for unity of purpose amongst the Zone C elites for the actualization of the age-long dream.

In attendance at the meeting were Rt. Hon. Chris Adaji (Ohimini), Hon. Anthony Agom (Okpokwu), Hon. Peter Onche (Obi), Hon. Steve Otumala (Oju 1), Hon. Okonga Joseph Okponya (Oju 2), Rt. Hon. Baba Johnson Odeh (Otukpo/Akpa), Hon. Micheal Audu (Adoka/Ugboju), Hon. Peter Enemari (Ogbadibo), Hon (Mrs) Agnes Uloko (Ado), and Hon. Abu Umoru (Apa).

Only Hon. Godwin Edoh, of Agatu constituency, was unavoidably absent, and he sent in his apology.
