Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as expressed dissatisfaction with the judgment of the National Assembly Election Petition in Makurdi, which upheld the election of Senator Abba Moro of the PDP.
Onjeh had approached the tribunal to challenge the victory of Moro in the February senatorial election in Benue South.
The court however in its verdict on Sunday dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.
“You presented a well laydown address without corresponding evidence to back up your claims, therefore, your petition is weak, porus and lacks merit, I hereby dismiss the petition in its entirety and affirm the 2023 election of Sen Patrick Abba Moro as winner of the Benue South Senatorial District election,”- Tribunal ruled in favour of Senator Abba Moro.
Reacting, Onjeh in a terse statement said the fight is not over.
He said his legal team will study the judgment and advise him on the next step to take.
Onjeh said, “The election petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi has just dismissed my petition on a misconceived ground.
“For us, it is a familiar terrain; we’ve gone through it several times in the last 12 tortuous years and we’re not deterred. Our legal team will study the judgement and advise on our available options.
“However, we give thanks to God in every situation. I equally wish to thank you for your unflinching support and prayers always. May God bless you.”
