Benue South PDP Social Media warns Olikita Ekani against impersonation

By Abah Caleb

Benue South PDP Social Media Forum, an organization responsible for propagating the activities of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue South, has warned a certain Olikita Ekani from impersonating the group.

The group also called on the general public to be weary of engaging Mr. Ekani on any serious discussion as he was not authorized to enter into any agreement on behalf of the forum.

In a statement issued Wednesday by its publicity secretary, Mr. Peter Oriri, the group said Ekani was neither an official of the forum nor a committed member.

Oriri said the public notice became necessary, owing to the news oozing from Makurdi, the state capital, alleging that Mr. Ekani had entered into a contractual agreement with some persons, on behalf of the forum.

It would be recalled that the said Ekani, did issue a press release on Wednesday, claiming to be the official spokesman of the forum, after his alleged meeting with some persons in Makurdi.

In the said statement, Ekani berated the Coordinator of the forum, Prince Yemi Itodo, for standing by his sister who was rumoured to be the Benue index case, saying the action of the journalist was hurting to the leadership of PDP and Benue state government.

But the group Spokesman said, though Prince Itodo was the Coordinator of the forum, he championed the course of transferring the alleged Benue index case to Abuja, as an individual who would stand for his sister and not as a Coordinator of the forum.

“Rather than breaking truce, especially now that the matter has died down, Olikita chose to pitch Itodo against the state government and the leadership of PDP, wherefore, he also dragged the name of this reputable forum to the mud.

“We therefore called on the Benue State government and the leadership of PDP, to disregard the mischievous outing of Ekani in the name of curring favour, as he is not part of the leadership of the forum and the stance of Itodo in the COVID-19 index case in Benue has nothing to do with the forum”, the statement read.

Oriri, while pledging the continuous support to the state government and the leadership of PDP, called on the general public to disregard the activities of Ekani on the social media, describing him as a “lone ranger” and “attention seeker”.

He declared that the forum has unanimously agreed that Ekani be suspended from the forum until such a time he tenders an open apology on social media.
