The senatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro, on Monday kicked off his ward-to-ward campaign in Otukpo LGA of Benue State.
Moro, who toured the seven council wards in Otukpo, urged electorate to vote for all the candidates of the PDP in the 2019 election; from the presidency to national and state assemblies.
Speaking during the tour that last for about 9 hours, Comrade Moro, said the All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians change but ended up bringing pain and hardship in Nigeria.
He challenged his opponents to name projects they attracted to Benue South while they were in power.
“So many people will come here to seek for your votes. They will call us names, they would say unprintable things against my person but we should not hesitate to ask them to name projects they were able to bring to our community while they were in power.
“We have a candidate who was a former Deputy Governor for eight years, we had a candidate who was a permanent secretary for years, kindly tell them to name people they empowered or projects they were able to put up in our land.
“I was doing well as lecturer before I ventured into politics, not because I was poor but because I needed to help my people back home.”
Moro said he was able to create employment opportunities for Benue South sons and daughters as Minister of Interior under the last administration.
He continued, “Some of you can attest to the fact that I helped many of our sons and daughters, especially the youths while serving as a Federal Minister.
“If you go to Civil Defense, Fire Service, Immigration and Prisons, you will see our people there. I was able to fix them there as a minister.
“Send me to Abuja and you shall see the outcome,” Moro assured.
He also warned them against casting their votes for the APC, saying they brought untold hardship upon Nigerians.
He added, “In 2015, people voted for change and today we have seen the outcome of the so called change. People now live from hand to mouth, no food. There is hunger everywhere in land. Is this the change you want?” The mammoth crowd chorused no!!!
Also speaking, the PDP candidate representing Otukpo/Ohimini, Hon. Egli Johnson Ahubi, warned them against wasting their votes on other candidates.
“The other day, some people came her crowing. Have you ever seen a hen crow before? Is a taboo! We killed all the chickens last Christmas. Say no to them.”
On his part, the chairman of Otukpo LG, Hon George Alli, described the APC as a dead party.
Alli, who left the APC few months back, asserted that the party was like an empty basket.
“I was there and I can tell you that there is nothing in APC. The party is dead and buried.
“Let us vote for Atiku Abubakar, Samuel Ortom, Abba Moro, Egli Ahubi and Ochi Igbabe.
“They vowed to bring federal might during election, but we have local might here, let them come and let’s test popularity,” Alli said.
Moro and his team visited Allan ward. Otobi ward, Otukpo township ward III, Otukpo township Ward II, Otukpo township ward I,Ewulo ward and Okete ward.
