Benue South Senate: Joe Ojobo declares support for Abba Moro, PDP candidates

A federal High Court sitting in Benue State has thrown out a case brought before it by the lawmaker representing Ogbadibo state constituency, Joe Ojobo, challenging the outcome of the October 2018 primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Ojobo had approached the court to challenge the election that produced his opponent, Comrade Abba Moro as the senatorial flag bearer of the party on the ground of irregularities.

He wanted the court to declare him winner, having scored the highest vote in the inconclusive election.

Passing verdict on the case on Thursday, the Judge ruled that every evidence before her proves that the election of October 4 was inconclusive and the plaintiff (Joe Ojobo) consented to it.

The Judge went further to tag the plaintiff as unreliable for providing two contradicting evidences on oath. She ruled that the plaintiff was at the venue of the primaries of the October 7, which was announced severally on Radio Benue and Joy FM and can not complain of “an irregularity” which he consented to.

His case was dismissed after almost two hours of reading the judgement.

Speaking shortly after the juddgement, Ojobo charged all his supporters to remain calm with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), despite the outcome of his case in court today.

He thanked all his supporters for believing in him and enjoined everyone to collectively work for the victory of PDP at all levels in the forth coming general elections.

Reacting to the judgement, Comrade Abba Moro described the ruling as a classical manifestation of the revalidation of the mandate given to him by the party.

He said the decision of the court was a clear indication that his emergence at the PDP Primary for Benue South Senatorial District, was not through the back door.
